On the morning of May 13, 1917, while the world was in the midst of World War I, Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta led their flock of sheep to a place called Cova da Iria, in Fatima, Portugal. The patch of land was less than a mile away from Aljustrel, the village where they lived.
