Ten years ago, I suffered a brutal attack on my way home from work. The attacker threw me to the ground and stabbed me, leaving me for dead as he fled with my personal belongings. I woke up in a narrow hospital hallway to the sight of doctors and nurses shuffling by hurriedly with their heads down.
“I’m giving her the medicine now,” I heard one doctor say. A grim-faced man sat across my bed trying to explain what went wrong....
